BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY
Benedictine University was founded in Chicago, Illinois as St. Procopius College in 1887. In 1901 the College moved to Lisle, in DuPage County, and the first building, Benedictine Hall, was dedicated in September 1901. The College became Benedictine University in 1996.
Benedictine University's rolling, tree-covered campus in Lisle, Illinois comprises ten major buildings with air-conditioned classrooms and modern, well-equipped laboratories. Facilities include a comprehensive learning center with full media library and a modern science facility, and a student athletic center with three full-size basketball courts, a competition-size swimming pool, three tennis courts, and training facilities.
Class sizes are small, and our faculty provides personal attention to our students. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The Benedictine University Career Development Department assists grads to transition to rewarding careers or post-graduate education.
ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS
College of Liberal Arts
Advancing the liberal arts experience of students is a key component of a Benedictine University education. The College of Liberal Arts provides major and minor programs, interdisciplinary offerings, and support for the core curriculum and to adult undergraduate and graduate students.
College of Science
The College of Science includes the departments of Biology, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics and Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The College also offers a master's degree program in clinical exercise physiology.
College of Business
The College of Business offers a doctoral program in Organization Development, several master's programs and certificates, and ten undergraduate degree programs. Programs are designed to meet the needs of working adults as well as traditional-age students, with courses offered in semester, quarter, accelerated and cohort formats.
College of Education and Health Services
Benedictine University has provided accredited teacher education for 40 years. Today the University prepares students for three different certificates: Elementary, Special Education and Secondary, which span seven subject areas in biology, chemistry, English, math, physics, social sciences, and Spanish.
Graduate Education programs include a doctorate in Higher Education and Organizational Leadership. a Master of Arts in Education, and a Master of Education.
Margaret and Harold Moser College of Adult and Professional Studies
The College of Adult and Professional Studies offers accelerated programs including a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Education (Reading Specialist or General Administration), a Bachelor of Arts in Management, and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration.
The School of Health Services
Programs offered include Health Administration, Nursing and Nutrition, and the graduate Public Health and Nutrition programs.
