School Description
Provided by George Washington University- Washington DC
With an undergraduate population of 9,700 students, few private schools of our size have the number of majors, the array of classroom experiences, the privileged access to academic resources, and the well-connected faculty that GW offers. Each academic program provides students with a theoretical foundation combined with practical research and experiential learning opportunities. Innovation, development, and progress are hallmarks of a GW education. Because of this vast array of opportunities, the University enables each student to create a distinctive course of study that fits their own needs and goals.
A cornerstone of each students academic experience is our faculty. Our professors are world renowned scholars who are engaged in world events and who expertly link theory with practice. Some of the same experts you see, hear, and read in the national and international news media teach classes at GW. You will find professors who are connected to the current issues of their discipline who are also committed to teaching and research. These are the same faculty who challenge and inspire students to successfully become engaged thinkers, accomplished leaders, and involved citizens.
GW gives its very active undergraduate students two campuses with more than enough academic and recreational opportunities for everything they want to accomplish during their four years. Students choose from our two distinct GW campuses ”Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon. Both are located in historic and prestigious Northwest Washington, DC residential neighborhoods.
The prestige of living and learning on the GW campuses includes our neighbors and friends. Students find an unparalleled "neighborhood life" like nowhere else with flexibility to customize their campus experience which extends to dining, fitness, activities, living options, events, and community service.
