School Description
Provided by Abilene Christian University
Since 1906, our mission has been to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. Students come here from all 50 states and 60 countries, and our graduates literally span the world. There are probably some ACU alumni in your hometown. If you are thinking of attending ACU, find them, and ask how ACU changed their lives. The far-reaching effects of the lives changed at ACU reach farther than the Web ever will ... they stretch to eternity.
The university welcomes all students who value the strong Christian environment and exceptional teaching offered on the campus. Required daily chapel and required Bible courses contribute to the open acknowledgement of Christian faith as an important aspect of the lives of most ACU students. All faculty, staff, administrators and members of the Board of Trustees are Christians.
The spirit of the Texas Frontier lives and breathes in Abilene, which in the span of a century transformed itself from tent city to cultural center, cow-town to college town, all without losing the flavors of the past.
Abilene parades its heritage in a collection of venues designed to both educate and entertain. Home to 120,000 friendly people, three private universities, six public universities and community colleges and Dyess Air Force Base.
Abilene preserves the traditional heritage of the old West while providing all the advantages of a contemporary city. Abilene, a Top Twelve Texas Destination, is located near the center of Texas just 150 miles west of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
